Strong Turnout for Ulster Wool Open Evening

Ulster Wool’s recent depot open evening proved to be a fantastic success, drawing a strong turnout of farmers, friends and Young Farmers from across the region, some travelling as far as Mullingar. The evening provided a unique opportunity for visitors to see first-hand the day-to-day operations within the depot.

Guests were greeted with a warm welcome and delicious hot food, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for an informative and engaging evening. The programme featured in-depth demonstrations of the grading, packing and coring processes, giving farmers a valuable insight into the meticulous standards applied to their wool. Visitors were encouraged to ask questions throughout the evening. The event was widely regarded as a credit to the depot staff, whose knowledge, expertise, and dedication were clearly evident.

Alongside the depot team, industry partners UFU (Ulster Farmers’ Union) and LMC NI (Livestock and Meat Commission Northern Ireland) attended with stands, providing farmers with wider information and a perspective on current industry developments. Also in attendance was ‘Future Island-Island’ featuring the innovative Rathlin Wool Project, which added a dimension to the evening, highlighting the potential for new opportunities and collaborations within the wool sector.

Ulster Wool’s strong focus on sales and marketing was evident throughout the event, with dedicated head office teams striving to deliver the best possible returns for members’ wool.
