Once your wool is delivered to a Ulster Wool depot or drop off site it is graded by experienced graders to assess quality and type. The graded wool is then sorted, baled, and sold at auction to manufacturers and buyers across various industries, ensuring you receive a fair market price for your wool.
To register as a Ulster Wool member, you need to complete our online registration form or contact our Muckmore Grading Depot. Once registered, you’ll receive a unique registration number and guidance on preparing your wool for collection or delivery.
Ulster Wool does not buy the wool directly, it is auctioned on behalf of our members throughout the year.
At the end of October each year, 90% of the wool has been received by depots, but only 25% of the clip will have been auctioned. Therefore, the value of the wool is not known until all the wool has been sold.
We would recommend contacting your nearest Grading Depot, Drop Off Point or Haulier to request wool sheets.
